The Workshops

Our Natural Capital was a learning journey, experienced by going to different parts of the city with different people and listening to different stories about why spaces in the city are they way they are. It was also a  process of building stories to make sense of what we experienced and tell these stories in our own way. Broadly, Our Natural Capital was organised as follows :

• Step 1: Getting to know each other, starting to look around at Bakehouse Close
• Step 2: Exploring the landscape and imagining at Holyrood park
• Step 3: Exploring lives, building curiousity and telling stories at Surgeons Hall
• Step 4: Looking at different city places and asking questions at Calton Road, Edinburgh Castle and on the bus tour around the city
• Step 5: Getting familiar with big debates- how other people value nature and the city
• Step 6: Storymaking and telling-making sense of our experiences in our own words
• Step 7: Imagining different future stories for Edinburgh as a natural capital based on our experiences

The learning journey was facilitated through workshops and site visits. Each week the participants have taken part in a workshop, hosted by a wide range of people at a rich variety of locations. These have included:
